ŠVENDRÄ–/NENDRÄ– - reusable straws are made from dried reeds which are cut to free access to water bodies and improve animal habitats. The plant is perfect for straw production, as only dried reed stalks are used. In this way, the plants are not destroyed, because new reeds grow out of the remaining roots. One of the important aspects of developing this project was to reduce transportation pollution. Reeds grow in all climate zones except the arctic. The straws can be produced in different parts of the world, so the product would only be transported around the production area. Reed straws replace disposable straws and thus reduce plastic consumption and environmental damage.
